Launch of the Epirus Living Lab: A New Chapter in Local Innovation
On April 30th, the city of Ioannina hosted the official launch of the Epirus Living Lab (ELL), a new open innovation platform rooted in the Epirus region. The ELL is designed to bridge the gap between research, society, and real local needs by bringing together citizens, social organizations, businesses, and academic institutions to co-create solutions to everyday challenges.
The Epirus Living Lab is currently active in several strategic areas:
- Organizational modelling
- Rural development
- Community energy
- Local entrepreneurship
This collaborative initiative aims to empower local actors and stimulate sustainable innovation from the ground up.
The launch event welcomed a wide range of participants, including representatives from local businesses, the Technical Chamber of Ioannina (TEE), the Municipality of Ioannina, the University of Ioannina, regional political groups, and civil society associations. Their presence and support highlight the Lab’s potential as a unifying space for cross-sectoral collaboration.
